Hi, we are Sheri and Ivo Massi and we reside in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario, Canada.
We have been involved with the sport of purebred dogs since 1994 and since that time we have been and continue to be dedicated to the Boxer breed ( in support). More recently we have become dedicated to French Bulldogs. In 1996 the kennel name Barknbwild was established.
Our love of Boxers/Frenchies stemmed from Sheri’s love/interests and Ivo’s love stemmed from Sheri’s as well as developing his own. We purchased our first Boxer in 1994 and we whelped our first litter in 1996. We purchased our first Frenchie in 2009 and our first French Bulldog litter was whelped in the spring of 2012. We had some help along the way and for that we thank all involved. We are no longer actively breeding boxers.
We are owned and have been owned by several Boxers/Frenchies, all of which reside in our home with us and thus are home raised. We live in the city, in a modest home, with adequate yard and space for our canine companions. We moved back to the city from the country so we could spend less time working and more time with our dogs.
We are firm believers that a dog is a family member and they should be treated as such. We make sure we screen all potential owners and keep in close contact with all our babies, both young and old.
Since 1994 we had been very much involved with showing Boxers in conformation, agility and obedience. We stopped showing our last boxer in around 2014 and unfortunately lost her in 2023 . But maybe we will get another in the future. We strive to make sure we use the best breeding stock that is health tested, sound and closely resembles the correct breed type and temperament by Standards. We breed QUALITY NOT QUANTITY and all our pups are home raised, naturally raised. We are involved in French Bulldogs equally and apply the same high standards as we did for the Boxers. Thus we have established a solid foundation and sound breeding stock/companions in our French bulldogs.
We have many Champions and Specialty Winners. Several of our dogs were/are handled by Sheri. Handlers are only hired when absolutely necessary due to absence or illness. We found it quite satisfying to achieve a show win when the dogs are owner handled. Our dogs win based on their merit, no other reason.
We had received some awards with our Boxers, such as: Top Producing Kennel, Top Producing Sire and Kennel Producing the most Champions. Such awards are available within specific clubs and not all our clubs offer such awards.
